Marcia Basichis, Managing Partner for the executive recruiting firm, Brentwood Search, was interviewed, last week about her career in the entertainment industry. Vanessa Frank, Host and Producer for Film Talk Podcast conducted the forty-minute interview, which is released nationally on its website plus a variety of media outlets, including iTunes, Stitcher Radio, SoundCloud, and other such podcasting directories.

“It was a wonderful experience to be interviewed about my career track,” said Marcia Basichis. Vanessa Frank is a wonderful personality with whom I was able to go back in time with my modest beginnings at CBS Television Network, working my way up through ABC Television Network as Executive in Charge of Current Programming for such iconic shows as Battlestar Galactica, Loveboat, and Dynasty.

“I spoke about moving over to Aaron Spelling Productions and becoming the Head of Development, putting on the air such game changing smash hits as Beverly Hills 90210, Melrose Place, and the Emmy Winning television movie, “And the Band Played On,” which depicted to the viewing audience the genesis of the AIDS epidemic. It’s been some kind of trip for me.”

Basichis noted that Film Talk Podcasts help those aspiring toward an entertainment career by having its guests share insights into their personal careers and the dynamics of the entertainment and media industry. She pointed out how it is so important for aspiring creatives to gain knowledge about the hacks, routines, and principals that have propelled others to their success.

“I wanted to help younger people understand what it takes to be successful in the entertainment industry and, more importantly, what changes they can expect to see in an ever-evolving industry,” said Basichis. “I see content becoming more entrepreneurial with individual artists making their own content like never before. There are digital advances and cost effective technologies that will make many things possible, which creates an entirely new dynamic than my time as Senior Vice President at Spelling Entertainment.

Basichis added that in her current role at Brentwood Search she is recruiting top executives for key roles in the entertainment and media industry. She noted that she is helping both global media groups and flourishing startups find the right creative, financial, and technology leaders that can help these companies advance with the times.

“I have over twenty years of experience in the entertainment industry,” said Basichis. Between my time at the television networks and Spelling Entertainment and now, with Brentwood Search, I have discovered what it takes to find the right fit for both today and tomorrow. If nothing else, I have learned to stay current you have to stay up on everything. If not, you are just someone else who gets left behind.”
